TO SEVENTH GRADE

Welcome

Stephanie Yates

At our 7th Grade Service Academy, we go beyond conventional academic learning. Our primary goal is to nurture a spirit of altruism and create leaders who actively seek opportunities to make a positive impact in the world around them. Through a well-crafted curriculum, we emphasize both academic excellence and civic engagement, ensuring your child develops into a well-rounded individual.

One of the core features that sets our academy apart is our extensive field trip program. Throughout the school year, our 7th graders embark on multiple field trips to explore various ways they can serve their communities. These field trips are carefully designed to expose students to diverse social challenges and inspire them to contribute meaningfully to causes they care about. During these immersive outings, our students engage in hands-on experiences and interact with local organizations, nonprofits, and community leaders. This is a year you do not want to miss!

HOMEWORK

Expect to see homework almost every day. It will usually be math homework, but you will occasionally see homework from Science, Social Studies, or English. All Assignments given to the students by me will be posted on Google Classroom.

Throughout the year, I may have larger fun projects to complete. Your student will be given plenty of time and notice about these projects, so they won't be a surprise.

CURRICULUM

All of our curriculum is aligned with state standards for the subject. For math we use GoMath which is common core and California state standard aligned. We use Amplify for science which is aligned with the Next Generation Science Standards. We use Fountas & Pinnell, Zanner Bloser and Writers Workshop for English which helps our students excel in writing, reading, and grammar. For Social Studies we use Studies Weekly, which takes us through ancient civilizations. This includes ancient Greece, Rome, Mesopotamia, Egypt, India, and Asia. Students also receive Religion,Spanish, Art, Makerspace, Outdoor Classroom, and Physical Education classes.

We supplement all of our curriculum with online tools like IXL, Kahoot, Bamboozled, Edutyping, simulators and so much more!
