TO 1ST GRADE

Welcome

Harrington

Hello First Grade Families,

My name is Camille Harrington, and I have the blessing of being your child's First Grade teacher! I have been at Ascension for 5 years now in various roles, but teaching First Grade is my favorite by far.

A little about me: I grew up in Thousand Oaks with my parents, younger sister, and a few cats and dogs. I received my BA in Educational Studies from California Lutheran University before attending Pepperdine University's Graduate School of Education, where I obtained my MA in Teaching and Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. Some of my favorite things include reading, going to the beach, travelling, and doing yoga!

In First Grade your child will learn how to be a student while also developing a close-knit, family-like community. Academically, your child will learn how to write multiple sentences, practice and develop phonemic awareness, learn about American history, understand a lunar cycle, recognize Base Ten properties, and so much more. This year is an explosion of learning and excitement for your students!

Welcome to Ascension, and welcome to First Grade! I can't wait to be your teacher! â€‹Feel free to contact me at any time at: charrington@alschool.org

RESOURCES

We are using Class Dojo this year! I am so excited to be able to send pictures and updates about our class through Class Dojo. I highly recommend downloading the app on your phone, it’s the easiest way to stay connected.

HOMEWORK

Homework will be sent home at the start of each week in a packet. The packets must be returned each Friday, or an otherwise specified date!

EXTRAS

Star of the Week: Every student will get the chance to be our "star" of the week during the school year. Stars are chosen at random and will receive a fun poster to decorate and share with the class during their week! More details will be shared in person regarding this exciting activity.

Birthdays: We would love to celebrate your student's special day! For students with summer birthdays, they have the option to celebrate on their half birthday or in June before the end of the school year.
