TO SIXTH GRADE
Welcome
Hello! My name is Matt Cahill and it is my pleasure to be the 6th grade advisor this year. As the students begin their Academy work, we will be talking about and strengthening leadership skills. I will also be teaching 6th Religion & Math, along with teaching 7th & 8th Math.
I grew up in the Midwest while my teaching career began in New York City teaching high school. The move to the West Coast began my middle school career for the past eight years. When not singing or playing music, I enjoy camping and fishing with my wife and two children.

Supply List
6th GRADE SUPPLY LIST
2026-2027
Each student receives a locker to store the daily necessities found below, including a backpack
(optional) and lunch box (if needed). To maximize the available space, we ask that families limit locker
decorations and shelving. Please prioritize functionality over decoration so students have room for the
items they need each day.
● One large binder with 8 divider pockets or folders, filler paper/college ruled, and room
for the assignment book each student will receive on the first day of school. (If your
child uses a different organizational system for assignments please approve with Mr.
Cahill)
● Correcting pens (red, green etc.)
● Blue or black pens
● 2 boxes of #2 Pencils (Ticonderoga preferred), one that students will keep in locker and
another for classroom supplies
● A pack of colored pencils
● White Glue Sticks
● Highlighters at least 3 colors
● Headphones or Earbuds to be kept in locker
● 3 Composition notebook lined paper 200 pgs (English, Religion and Math Class)
● 1 Composition notebook graph paper 200 pgs (Makerspace)
● 1 3-prong folder with pockets (English)
● Post it notes: medium 2x2 and small 1.5x2 (English for annotating)
● Hair Bands and Athletic Shoes (PE)
● Bible (this can be the one gifted by the school in lower grades OR a personal one)
** ALL STUDENTS IN GRADES 3-8 MUST USE THE ASCENSION LUTHERAN ASSIGNMENT BOOK. EACH STUDENT WILL BE GIVEN AN ASSIGNMENT BOOK ON THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL.
