One Ascension Mission

The school works in cooperation with Ascension Lutheran Church to support events for children, youth, and families including spiritual formation classes, first communion, baptism, and confirmation classes, as well as Bible classes. All students are welcome to be a part of the faith community of the church and participate in our Children's Ministries programming which includes Sunday School, Kids in Christ, Vacation Bible School, and Youth Groups.

 

Service is an integral part of Ascension Lutheran Elementary School. We follow Jesus’s example, remembering he calls us to care for “the least of these.” Our weekly chapel offerings connect to our service focus. We work with the following organizations and services projects as well as others:

 

• Packing lunches for Harbor House, a local organization that cares for those struggling financially and experiencing homelessness
• Collecting non-perishable items for the food pantry at Ascension Lutheran Church
• Collecting clothes, diapers, and formula for James Storehouse, a local foster agency
• Packing personal care kits for Lutheran World Relief
• Making blankets through the Linus Project
• Writing thank-you notes during the Covid pandemic to medical workers and essential employees
• Bringing hope to the global, annual “Gifts of Hope” project each December; the 2021-22 project will have us learning about and helping Madagascar
