School Board

The Ascension Lutheran School Board, with guidance from the Pastors, has the responsibility to oversee the operation of Ascension Lutheran School. The School Board is comprised of nine voting members elected by the congregation of Ascension Lutheran Church.

Tracey Carrington, President


Tracey Carrington and her husband David became members of Ascension Lutheran Church in 2019 soon after moving to the area. She joined Ascension's School Board in 2020 and was the 2020-21 School Board Representative to the Church Council. After obtaining a B.S. in Accounting from CSUN and becoming a CPA, Tracey worked in the banking industry for 10 years. She then became a stay-at-home mom to her two sons. She enjoyed being an active volunteer at their schools and in doing so became interested in education. When she returned to the workforce it was as an instructional aide in first grade at the small private school her sons attended for preschool and elementary school.

Paul Hoffmeier, Past President

BoardPaul Hoffmeier has been an Ascension Lutheran School parent since 2005. His oldest two boys are Ascension Lutheran School alumni and are currently attending college. His youngest boy is starting 2nd grade in the fall. The Hoffmeier family joined Ascension Lutheran Church in 2011.  This is Paul's third year on the School Board. Currently, Paul is employed by 2K Games as a Studio Manager of Mass Media in Moorpark, CA.

Rick Pfeiffer, Secretary


Rick Pfeiffer has been a member of Ascension Lutheran Church for over forty years. He is a local fire captain, is married, and has two children enrolled at Ascension Lutheran School in the Early Childhood Center and Elementary School.

Traci Allen, Member at Large

BoardTraci Allen and her family have been members of Ascension Lutheran Church since 2012.  She is a three time alum from California Lutheran University earning her bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies, master’s degree in Counseling & Guidance, and her doctoral degree in Leadership in Higher Education. She has worked in higher education in Ventura County for over 20 years serving in various teaching, counseling, and administrative roles. Currently at Moorpark College she is a professor of Counseling and leads student success initiative programs. Her two children have been part of the Ascension Lutheran School family for 9 years attending first the ECC and now the Elementary School. 

Nichole Cook, Member at Large

BoardNichole Cook and her family have been members of Ascension Lutheran Church since Nichole attended Ascension Lutheran day school from 1st to 8th grade. She was involved in Ascension’s youth group, choir and confirmation program from 6th grade through high school. Nichole and her husband Casey have two children, now 6 and 9, who were baptized at Ascension Lutheran Church and attend Ascension Lutheran School where they started as infants in the preschool. Nichole is a Marketing Program Manager for a Global Academic Publishing company and has recently been supporting the marketing efforts of the day school as well. She feels so blessed see her children thriving at Ascension just as she did; and would love to continue to support the school and the community with her marketing experience.

Naomi Little, Member at Large

BoardNaomi Little graduated from California State University of Long Beach with a degree in Communication Studies in 2004. Naomi is a dual certified human resources professional (Professional in Human Resources and Society of Human Resources Management Certified Professional) working locally at Amgen's corporate office. She previously worked in human resources roles for the non-profit agency North Los Angeles County Regional Center for 5 years and for Tyco Integrated Security for 10 years. She and her husband, Jared have two young girls who have attended and thrived at the Early Childhood Center (ECC). They became Ascension members after their first daughter was born. Naomi looks forward to contributing as a Board member to this school that has been such an amazing part of her family's lives.

Staci Renee, Member at Large

BoardStaci Renee graduated from California State University, Northridge with a degree in Child Development in 2004. She later went on to receive her Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. She has been a teacher both in the classroom and through an independent study program. She recently completed her 16th year of teaching. She and her husband, Eric, moved to Thousand Oaks in 2012. Their two daughters attend Ascension Lutheran School and feel blessed to be a part of both the church and school. She serves on the school's COVID-19 Task Force and has also served as a room parent and Art Trek Coordinator for the school. Staci is inspired by the school's new focus of 21st Century Learning and hopes to help support this new focus and all the wonderful opportunities it will bring to our school.  

Ashley Steere, Member at Large

Ashley Steere and her husband, Robert, became members of Ascension Lutheran Church in 2018. She is a Registered Nurse with a Master’s Degree in Nursing Education, working full time as the Clinical Educator for Women’s and Children’s Services at Los Robles Medical Center. Ashley and Robert have two daughters who attend Ascension Lutheran School. Ashley attended a pre-K-6th grade attached to her childhood church in Glendale, California. Her love and appreciation for her Lutheran education guided her to seek out Ascension for their own children. Ashley and Robert have served as room parents, yearbook coordinators, and volunteer photographers for school events during their time at Ascension Lutheran School.   

Yvonne Waters, Member at Large

BoardYvonne Waters became a member of Ascension Lutheran Church in 2016.  She holds a Masters of Educational Administration Degree and a Bachelors of Elementary Education Degree. After teaching for many years in private and public schools, she went on to be a Christian school principal for 22 years in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Pastor Julie McCain, Pastoral Liaison

 Pastor Julie McCain came to Ascension Lutheran Church and School in April 2018 as the Children-Youth-Family Pastor. She is a graduate of California Lutheran University and Luther Seminary. Her background includes serving as a youth director role at River of Life Lutheran Church in Minneapolis, an intern pastorship at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Anchorage, Alaska, and, most recently, an associate pastorship at First Lutheran Church in Marshall, MN. Her work at Ascension encompasses both church and school.
