Welcome to Ascension Lutheran Elementary School

We invite you to get to know our amazing elementary school program serving students in grades TK-6. We provide children with a well-rounded, Christian, educational experience that focuses on the whole-child in mind, body, and spirit. Our dedication to this approach is anchored in the school's motto - Lead, Inspire, Serve- and in our vision.

Vision Statement

Ascension Lutheran School is dedicated to nurturing each student, providing academic excellence, and creating bold, compassionate leaders who inspire and serve others in their walk with Jesus Christ.

A Christ-Centered Campus

Situated on the spacious campus of Ascension Lutheran Church on Hillcrest Drive in Thousand Oaks, Ascension Lutheran Elementary School serves approximately 140 students in transitional kindergarten through sixth grade.

Our elementary school is strongly rooted in the Lutheran tradition but welcomes students and families of various faith backgrounds. We learn and play under the guidance of our school pastor, and many of our teachers have a background in the Lutheran tradition and attend church. All of our teachers and staff care passionately about modeling life in Jesus Christ.

Faith life at Ascension intersects with all that we do. It is the lens through which we see. We live by the virtues of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, patience, joy, forgiveness, and love.

A High-Impact Learning Community

Elementary SchoolAscension offers a strong liberal arts, Christian education built upon traditional and contemporary curricula that align with the California Common Core Standards, however, we go beyond these standards to enrich the quality of education with 21st century tools and technology, methods and materials. Students graduate from Ascension Lutheran Elementary School with the knowledge and skills necessary for higher education.

We are a community where everyone is a "learner". Teachers, staff, students, and families grow and learn together through collaborative teaching and specialty programs that challenge them to engage and think critically. At Ascension we feel called to provide the highest level of education for our students so that they can follow their passion for learning in all areas of their development: academically, spiritually, artistically, and athletically.
