A Sense of Wonder

Our Preschool Program offers a loving, safe, and structured environment for children, ages 2-5 years, to discover their God-given talents. Knowing that virtually every aspect of the development of the human brain is shaped by experience, we embrace active learning and honor our students’ sense of wonder through an emergent science-based curriculum that ensures personal growth. Our Preschool Program prepares students for a successful transition to both transitional and traditional kindergarten, and we partner closely with Ascension Lutheran Elementary School which offers both programs.

As a Certified Nature Explore School, children learn to comprehend the world around them by physically interacting with nature instead of only learning in a classroom. The Nature Explore Outdoor Classroom is central to our Preschool Program curriculum and encourages learning across many subject areas including science, math, literacy, art, and music.

Children can play with the creek and water pump, grow nutritious vegetables in the garden, and build loose parts into whatever their minds imagine. Children are more open to learning outside and can make choices for themselves about what to play with, thus exploring their interests and talents. This is play-based learning, and play is the work of the child.

Nature All Around Us

We have designed our new facility to bring the outdoors inside with bright and spacious classrooms that are decorated with themed murals to help children connect to different environments, animals, and habitats.

We have an African safari room, Australian outback, rain forest, under the sea, farm, and garden. In our preschool, your children will feel encouraged to explore their personalities and be respected for their choices. Ascension Lutheran ECC is a place for your children to experience growth and to learn to love others.
