Infant & Toddler Program
Love and Trust
Ascension Lutheran Early Childhood Center Infant and Toddler Program welcomes children as young as 3 months up to 24 months old. Within our Infant and Toddler Program, each child is loved and respected as an individual and is assigned a primary caregiver. This approach, based on the Resources for Infant Educarers (RIE), fosters a trusting and close relationship between the teacher, the child, and their parents.

We maintain a ratio of 3:1 infants to primary caregiver, which is lower than the state required ratio of 4:1. Teachers give our youngest learners the respect they deserve by spending time on the floor with them and interacting face-to-face in an engaging and meaningful way. The center maintains a calm and serene environment where children are comfortable and not overstimulated.
Free to Explore
Our infants and toddlers enjoy both indoor and outdoor classroom spaces where they can gain independence as they grow, learn, and explore the world around them. They are free to explore and begin making their own choices. Teachers use American Sign Language with children, enabling them to communicate in another way before they would normally be able to verbalize their needs.
At 12 months old, babies move from a crib to a cot as we continue to promote independence. These aspects of our infant and toddler program are a few examples of how we are intentional about respecting children’s choices and allowing them to express themselves.
We have an open door to families so that parents can say goodbye to their children every morning and the baby can understand the environment belongs to their family as well. Families and babies will see that the infant center is a loving and respectful environment where children can grow and thrive.
